The start of the new school year is approaching, when parents begin to contemplate shopping lists for their children. Although expenses for school supplies, clothes, and shoes may vary, the average price for a school supply kit for a first grader in the summer of 2025 will be about 3329 hryvnias. It is important to choose products carefully to save money without losing quality. Parents will typically spend between 7000 and 10500 hryvnias on clothing and shoes for their children (depending on the child's gender), which can be discussed, as the cost of clothing for a first grader is around 3400 hryvnias, while for a first grader girl it is 2500 hryvnias. The choice of clothing can also affect the final cost; for example, opting for a dress instead of a blouse and skirt can save a few hundred hryvnias. Ukrainians may also be interested to know that children can live separately from their parents starting at 16 years old, and families with children can receive up to 179,000 hryvnias in grants for business development support from the German government.
