Russia has intensified drone and missile attacks: three main goals of the Kremlin

According to ТСН: Russian troops continue intensive combined attacks on Ukraine, actively using drones and missiles. The Kremlin pursues three main goals, and its actions have a clear logic.

Executive Director of the Ukrainian Center for Security and Cooperation Dmytro Zhmailyo spoke about this on the air of '24 Channel'.

Goals of the attacks

The expert emphasized that Russia not only physically destroys objects but also aims to destabilize the situation in Ukraine through the consequences of shelling, namely, power outages and domestic problems.

“We are 99.9% not scared, but partially the Russian special services manage to rock the situation. They use power outages and protests, as well as the thesis that there were supposedly no shelling and that electricity is being sold abroad,” explained Zhmailyo.

Military pressure

The second goal is military pressure on certain directions. According to Zhmailyo, Russia especially focuses on the south as strikes from temporarily annexed Crimea reduce the response time of air defense.

“They (the Russian Federation) need to cut off Southern Bessarabia. This direction is important because launching all these means of aerial attack from Crimea gives our fighters very little time to respond,” noted Zhmailyo.

International pressure and calculations

The third component the expert pointed out is international pressure and bargaining for favorable conditions. Against the backdrop of discussions about the peace process and internal economic problems, Russia is trying to increase its 'negotiating price'.

“The Russians are raising the degree of tension even more to have a higher price for their negotiability,” he said.

Moreover, the Russian Federation is actively escalating strikes and exacerbating the situation to increase the value of its 'readiness to talk' and stimulate partners to pressure Ukraine. This logic does not disappear, even when diplomatic statements are heard, so massive attacks may remain a tool of coercion for the Kremlin.

Operations on December 23

It is worth noting that on the night and morning of December 23, the Russian Federation struck with 'Kinzhal' missiles, cruise missiles, and drones. In total, Russian forces launched 673 aerial attack means — 38 missiles and 635 drones of various types. Air defense forces destroyed 621 aerial target.

The Russian occupation army struck at energy facilities in various regions of Ukraine. The government emphasizes that the infrastructure of western regions was in the crosshairs.

These attacks further confirm Russia's active aggression against Ukraine. The tense situation forces the Ukrainian authorities and military to take all measures to ensure safety and stability in the country. Security and infrastructure restoration issues remain high on the state's agenda as Russian forces continue to use destructive methods to achieve their goals.
