A 55-Meter Chocolate Train Steams into the Record Books.
A New World Record in Chocolate Artistry
According to TSN.ua: A team led by Andrew Farrugia has secured a Guinness World Record by crafting the longest chocolate sculpture ever made: a 55.27-meter-long steam locomotive. The official recognition from Guinness World Records underscores the scale of this remarkable confectionery feat.
Crafting the Chocolate Locomotive
Building the chocolate train was a monumental task that took roughly four months to execute, following nearly a year of meticulous planning. The sculpture faithfully replicates a vintage steam locomotive pulling 22 separate carriages. Each carriage weighed approximately 160 kilograms and required the team to produce around 5,000 individual chocolate components. The sheer scale is further highlighted by the creation of about 180 wheels for the carriages alone.
Every element of the sculpture was hand-cut or molded in Bergamo. The completed chocolate train was unveiled in Milan ahead of the Winter Olympic Games. Following the exhibition, part of the sculpture is slated to be melted down for educational purposes, while another portion will be repurposed as animal feed, demonstrating a responsible approach to material use alongside creative ambition.
Such a record is significant for the creative and culinary arts, merging traditional craftsmanship with modern techniques. Achievements like this shine a spotlight on the chocolate industry, potentially inspiring new innovations and ambitious projects. This record may well encourage other teams to attempt similar large-scale creations, fostering the growth of chocolate artistry on an international stage. Records of this kind are often set to promote tourism and local craftsmanship, bringing global attention to the artists and their region.
