Sunflower Prices Rise While Oil Falls: A Market Divide Unfolds.
Agricultural Commodity Prices in Ukraine
According to Novyny.live: In Ukraine, sunflower seed prices are climbing even as demand for processed sunflower products weakens, pushing their prices downward. This price divergence has become more pronounced since last week, driven by aggressive purchasing activity. Processors have quoted buying prices ranging from 28,500 to 30,500 hryvnias per metric ton, with actual transaction prices settling between 29,200 and 29,500 hryvnias per metric ton for deliveries to port.
Despite the rally in sunflower seed costs, sunflower meal prices remain stagnant at 9,500 to 9,800 hryvnias per ton, reflecting tepid demand for processed goods. Meanwhile, sunflower oil prices are also rising sharply, underscoring the market's instability.
Prices for Other Crops
- Rapeseed prices in March have reached 25,900 hryvnias per ton.
- Feed corn demand prices in southern regions are hitting 10,300 hryvnias per ton.
- A 50 kg bag of feed wheat costs between 450 and 480 hryvnias.
- Prices for food-grade wheat (Class 3) range from 510 to 530 hryvnias.
This situation highlights a growing disconnect between raw material and finished product prices in Ukraine's agricultural sector, warranting further analysis of its impact on the farming industry. The rise in sunflower seed prices amid falling processed product values may signal supply chain disruptions or shifting consumer demand. Such volatility poses significant risks for farmers and producers whose operations depend on price stability.
