Iran supplied Russia with weapons worth 4 billion dollars: details on the major contracts.
According to ТСН: According to the assessment of a Western security official, Iran supplied Russia with missiles worth about 2.7–3 billion dollars and supported President Vladimir Putin in the war against Ukraine.
The contracts between Tehran and Moscow were concluded since October 2021, before the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Under these contracts, Iran delivered hundreds of ballistic short-range missiles of the Fath-360 type, about 500 other ballistic missiles, and around 200 anti-aircraft missiles for air defense systems.
Russia and Iran's rapprochement
Since the beginning of the war, there has been a rapprochement between Russia and Iran, despite harsh Western sanctions against Moscow. Estimates suggest that Russia has spent over 4 billion dollars on military equipment from Iran since the end of 2021.
Delivery of drones and military technology
In addition to missiles, Iran supplied Russia with kamikaze drones of the type 'Shahed-136' and provided technologies to produce similar drones called 'Geran-2'. The contract for the supply of drones, signed in early 2023, is estimated at 1.75 billion dollars.
The Russian Defense Ministry and the Iranian Foreign Ministry have not commented on these supplies. In Iran, there are restrictions on internet access and virtually a complete information blackout.
Additional supplies and military cooperation
According to an analysis, Iran has also supplied millions of ammunition and missiles to Russia, although part of the arms purchases is still awaiting execution. Despite the strategic partnership between the countries, the contract signed in January 2025 does not include a pact for mutual defense.
It was previously reported that
US President Donald Trump was willing to assist Iran in gaining freedom.
At the same time, Iran warned that in the event of an American attack on the country, US and Israeli forces would be
'legitimate targets'.
The situation in the Middle East and Ukraine remains tense. The cooperation between Russia and Iran shows the strengthening of their relations against the backdrop of international conflicts and sanctions. It also underscores the importance of international diplomacy in resolving disputes, as the support of a participant has a significant impact on overall security in the region.
