According to Novyny.live: German heavyweight boxer Victor Jurk has revealed details about his sparring work with Ukrainian champion Oleksandr Usyk during preparations for Usyk’s bout against Tyson Fury. According to Jurk, going toe-to-toe with Usyk demands extreme focus and physical endurance, describing the experience as a true masterclass in boxing.

Oleksandr Usyk—the unified WBC, WBA, and IBF heavyweight world champion—is currently training in Spain. Jurk noted that he has followed Usyk’s career since the amateur ranks and regards him as a boxing genius.

“These sparring sessions carry a risk of brain damage, but that’s okay—you learn from the best. He is the master; I am the student. When you’re in the ring with him, you think: how can someone be this good?”
Jurk said.

Preparing for the Tyson Fury Fight

Despite the high level of training, Jurk does not expect to be invited back for Usyk’s next camp ahead of his fight with Rico Verhoeven. This phase of preparation is crucial for Usyk as he gears up for one of the most significant fights of his career.

The sparring sessions between Jurk and Usyk highlight the importance of quality training partners ahead of major bouts. As a unified champion, Usyk aims to showcase his best qualities against Tyson Fury, widely considered one of the toughest opponents in the heavyweight division. Preparing for such fights requires not only physical conditioning but also mental fortitude, and sparring with experienced boxers like Jurk plays a key role in that process.
