Destruction of Tor-M2 Surface-to-Air Missile Systems

According to UATV: Ukraine's Special Operations Forces (SOF) have taken out two Tor-M2 surface-to-air missile systems in the Zaporizhzhia region. One was struck on the M-14 highway, while the other was eliminated near Melitopol. These operations are part of a sustained SOF campaign to disrupt key supply routes used by the enemy to move military equipment and personnel.

SOF Operations in May 2023

On May 29, 2023, SOF hit a Tor-M2 system on the M-14 highway in the Zaporizhzhia region. This road serves as a land corridor from Russia to Crimea, passing through occupied territories in Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions.

According to SOF representatives, 'the enemy uses the M-14 highway as a land corridor from Russia to Crimea along the route Taganrog — Dzhankoy, through the south of the occupied Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions.'

The second Tor-M2 system was destroyed earlier near Melitopol. Each Tor-M2 carries up to 16 missiles, making it a dangerous asset in the enemy's arsenal. SOF continue to maintain fire control over this critical logistics artery, systematically destroying enemy military hardware and personnel moving along the M-14 highway.

  • These successful SOF operations highlight Ukraine's active strategy to counter military threats.
  • Eliminating Tor-M2 systems undermines the aggressor's defensive capabilities.
  • Control over supply routes is vital for achieving combat objectives.
  • This underscores the need for continued international support to bolster Ukraine's defense capabilities.
