Frozen $3 billion from the sale of 'Chelsea'

We have new information that Roman Abramovich received $3 billion from the sale of the football club 'Chelsea' in 2022, but these funds have still not been used. They remain in a bank account in the United Kingdom, thus breaking the promise to transfer them to the victims of the war in Ukraine. This was reported by 'Glavkom'.

The reason for such a delay lies in the disagreements about the distribution of these funds. Abramovich wishes for the money to be used to help all victims of the war, including Russian soldiers, as well as for charitable purposes outside of Ukraine. On the other hand, the British government insists that these funds should only be used for humanitarian needs in Ukraine.

However, it should be noted that negotiations between the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office of the UK and Abramovich regarding the creation of a new fund for the distribution of these funds are still ongoing.

The government is actively working to ensure that the funds received from the sale of 'Chelsea' are used as quickly as possible for humanitarian needs in Ukraine. Representatives of the Ministry continue negotiations to find a solution, said representatives of the UK Foreign Office.

It is worth reminding that since the start of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Abramovich was forced to sell the club 'Chelsea'. But nearly three years have passed, and the money has still not been used.

Recently, the training base of the 'Chornomorets' club in Odesa was damaged as a result of shelling carried out by Russia. Fortunately, no players, coaches, or staff were injured.
