In Ukraine, the fine for burning dry grass, fallen leaves, and other plant residues ranges from 3060 to 6120 hryvnias. These actions can lead to fires and environmental pollution, as reported by the press service of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine.
If the burning occurs in protected areas, the fine can reach 12240 hryvnias. For the destruction of forests or green spaces, the fine ranges from 91800 to 153000 hryvnias, or there may be a punishment in the form of imprisonment.
The criminal punishment can range from 5 to 10 years in cases of death or severe consequences due to burning vegetation.
Fine for storing firewood
There are also fines in Ukraine for illegal logging and storing firewood. The fine for storing firewood can reach up to 30 thousand hryvnias, and for illegal removal of trees – from 510 to 1020 hryvnias.
Importantly, logging trees without the permission of the private landowner is prohibited. Violations in this area are punishable by fines, imprisonment, or restriction of freedom up to 3 years.
Currently, a unified register of debtors is being developed in Ukraine, which will allow for more effective monitoring of violators of environmental standards.
Citizens should be cautious when handling dry grass and plant residues, as violations of environmental standards can lead to serious fines or even imprisonment. Compliance with the rules for preserving trees and forest areas is crucial for maintaining ecological balance in the country.
