New fines for traffic violations in Ukraine

According to inkorr.com: In Ukraine, the attitude towards violations of traffic rules has become stricter. This is especially true for drivers who believe they can get by without a driver's license. In reality, the situation looks quite different.

  • If you forgot your license at home, you face a fine of 425 hryvnias;
  • Driving a vehicle without the appropriate category will result in a fine of 3,400 hryvnias;
  • Driving a vehicle after losing your license will incur a fine of 20,400 hryvnias;
  • For a repeat violation, a fine of up to 40,800 hryvnias and a 7-year license suspension is provided.

The police are actively checking drivers, especially at night, as the database shows who is banned from driving. This complicates the possibility of bribery.

Even a short trip 'for five minutes' can turn out to be very expensive and bring numerous troubles in court.

What you should know:

  • Electronic licenses in the app 'Diya' have the same legal validity as regular plastic licenses;
  • A fine can be challenged within 10 days, and if paid within the first 15 days, the amount will not increase;
  • Do not hand over the wheel to someone without a license — responsibility will lie with both of you.

The strict approach to traffic violations aims to ensure safety on the roads, even if you think that 'five minutes' is not worth the risk.

Changes to traffic rules in Ukraine reflect the need to reduce accidents and increase driver responsibility. Now, for violations, not only fines are imposed, but licenses can also be revoked for a long period. These innovations are aimed at creating safer conditions for all road users.
