Travel Alert: Airline Strikes in Italy and Belgium to Disrupt Flights.
Traveler Advisory
According to Novyny.live: Travelers planning trips to Italy and Belgium are being warned of potential flight disruptions due to industrial action by aviation sector workers, scheduled for February 26 and March 12. On February 26 alone, ITA Airways has 314 scheduled flights that may be canceled or delayed because of the planned strikes. These labor actions are part of a broader trend of industrial unrest affecting European air travel.
Belgian Strike Details
The strike in Belgium is set to last for 24 hours and may involve pilots, cabin crew, and ground staff from multiple airlines. The unions participating in the industrial action include:
- FGTB/ABVV
- CSC/ACV
- CGSLB/ACLVB
Security personnel, baggage handlers, and air traffic controllers may also join the protests.
It is worth noting that similar protests in 2025 already led to a collapse in air traffic. Recently, on February 12, the German airline Lufthansa canceled hundreds of flights due to a one-day strike, grounding over 460 flights at German airports. This left more than 140,000 passengers stranded and resulted in financial losses estimated at approximately 27 million euros.
Tourists planning travel to these countries should prepare for potential inconveniences and check for the latest updates regarding their flights.

It is crucial for travelers to monitor the news and be prepared for changes to their plans, including possible flight delays or cancellations. In the current climate of ongoing changes within the aviation industry, such events underscore the importance of maintaining flexibility when traveling.
