Why Summer Flights Get Delayed: A Flight Attendant Breaks Down the Chain of Issues.
Summer Flight Delays on the Rise
According to Novyny.live: Summer travel brings a surge in flight delays, driven by heavier airport traffic. Flight attendant tanya_ivanikhina_ has outlined the root causes, linking them to late aircraft arrivals and long departure queues. The highest number of delays occurs from June through August, when flight volumes multiply significantly.
In her last week of work, five out of six flights operated by tanya_ivanikhina_ were delayed. She noted that planes often have to wait for a departure slot due to slow baggage loading. For example, in Valencia, passengers sat idle while luggage was being loaded, and in Naples, they waited for their turn to take off. Additionally, when departing from Cyprus, the crew was told no slot was available for them in Tel Aviv.
'Aviation is, you know, a chain of events. As soon as one flight is late, delays ripple through all subsequent flights.' tanya_ivanikhina_
Travelers can also fly out of cities like Iași, located 578 km from Kyiv, and Suceava, 625 km from the Ukrainian capital. The increase in summer delays creates major headaches for passengers planning their trips.
Summer flight delays are a common occurrence, stemming from higher passenger volumes and added pressure on airports. This situation can cause extra trouble for travelers hoping for on-time departures. As the flight attendant points out, aviation is a complex system influenced by many factors, but passengers should brace for possible delays and build extra time into their travel plans.
