Family Vacation in Odesa 2026: What a Trip with a Child Really Costs.
Breaking Down the Costs of an Odesa Getaway
According to Novyny.live: Since the start of the full-scale invasion, Odesa has emerged as Ukraine's top leisure destination. In 2026, families with children planning a trip here need to consider three main expense categories: transportation, accommodation, and meals.
Transport, Lodging, and Dining
Travel costs vary widely depending on the mode of transport. A ticket from Kharkiv to Odesa ranges from:
- 521 UAH for a seat in a third-class sleeper car;
- 945 UAH for a compartment (coupe);
- 2,593 UAH for a 'Luxury' class carriage.
The fastest overnight train covers the route in 10 hours and 41 minutes, offering a comfortable way to reach the city.
Housing and food are also major budget factors. Renting an apartment in Odesa now averages 13,000 UAH per month—19% higher than a year ago. Two-bedroom units typically go for around 18,000 UAH, while three-bedroom apartments cost roughly 25,000 UAH monthly. This rise in rental prices may influence which lodging option families choose.
The total price tag for an Odesa vacation depends on your transport choice, type of accommodation, and dining expenses. Currently, 27 beach sections have passed inspections and received readiness certificates for visitors, signaling a recovery in tourism infrastructure. Additionally, starting June 28, Ukrzaliznytsia launched an extra regional train between Odesa and Karolino-Buhaz, making travel even more convenient.
Despite rising housing costs, Odesa remains an attractive holiday spot. For families with children, it's essential to account for all potential expenses to plan a comfortable and safe trip.
The certification of multiple beach areas and the introduction of new train services point to a resurgence in Odesa's tourism activity, which could positively impact the regional economy.
While higher accommodation prices pose challenges, they also reflect increased demand for vacations in this city, underscoring its importance for the growth of domestic tourism in Ukraine.
