Who Qualifies for a Draft Deferment: Students Aged 25 and Over Granted Exemption.
Student Deferment from Military Conscription
According to Novyny.live: Under current mobilization rules, students who are 25 years or older can qualify for a deferment from military service, provided they meet specific conditions. This exemption applies to individuals enrolled in bachelor's or master's degree programs. To secure this deferment, students must have their enrollment and academic status properly recorded in the Unified State Electronic Database on Education.
It is also essential that these students are not pursuing degrees in military or defense-related fields. The primary document confirming eligibility for deferment is a certificate from the Unified State Electronic Database on Education. Men of conscription age who receive a deferment are still required to register with territorial recruitment and social support centers (known as TCCs and SPs).
Mobilization Rules for Younger Citizens
It is worth noting that citizens under the age of 25 can still be called up for service if a military medical commission (MMC) has classified them as partially fit for duty. Those who are mobilized may later become officers after completing professional military education courses. As a result, the deferment policy plays a key role for students who wish to continue their education without interruption.
This initiative helps strike a balance between the state's mobilization needs and citizens' right to education. During wartime, it is crucial that young people have the opportunity to complete their studies, which can ultimately benefit the country's long-term development. The deferment allows students to plan their futures while still fulfilling their obligations to the state when necessary.
