According to The Sun: Subway has presented a new dish — baked potatoes, which will appear in restaurants across Ukraine after successful testing.
This new item called 'Spudway' offers baked potatoes with various fillings, including cheese, baked beans, tuna with mayonnaise, Meatball Marinara, and chicken tikka.
Subway has launched a new baked potatoAccording to a survey of 2000 adults, each of them will consume about 8000 baked potatoes in their lifetime. Meanwhile, 25% of respondents stated that they would eat one every day if given the chance.
The most favored fillings were cheese and beans (56%), tuna with mayonnaise (36%), and bacon (23%).
Also, 10% prefer ketchup, while 40% love to experiment with toppings and try new combinations.
'The nation's passion for baked potatoes is unparalleled,' said Katie Goodwin, interim Culinary and Innovation Director at Subway EMEA.
'The enthusiasm we've seen on social media and the strong demand from our guests during testing proved that Spudway deserves a place on our menu,' she added.
The research also revealed that 15% of respondents are enthusiastic about this dish, while 23% are ready to eat it for breakfast.
Moreover, 23% of survey participants are so passionate about baked potatoes that they argued about what makes this dish perfect.
41% believe that the dish wouldn't be complete without baked beans, while 19% would be 'outraged' if someone reheated their potato in the microwave instead of baking it.
About 21% secretly judge others based on their choice of toppings, and 34% think that eating cold potatoes is the worst.
It turned out that 78% of respondents usually eat the skin of baked potatoes, and 15% believe that the baked potato season starts on September 1.
Katie Goodwin added: 'Made from British potatoes, Irish salted butter, a double helping of cheese, and fully customizable with any of our numerous toppings — from our legendary Meatball Marinara to staple ingredients like cheese and beans.'
Thus, Subway aims to attract new customers and delight its fans with this popular dish. The launch of 'Spudway' in Ukraine indicates that the company is striving to adapt its menu to the tastes of local consumers and keeps an eye on culinary trends.
