ASDA lowers prices on 1000 products: what will be cheaper in stores.
According to The Sun: ASDA announced a price reduction, cutting the cost of nearly a thousand everyday products.
Discounts are available both in stores and online.
GettyAsda has lowered prices on over 900 essential food items.
Among the discounts, significant reductions are seen on basic products like pasta, cooking sauces, tea, and coffee.
Customers can buy Yorkshire Tea for 2 pence per bag, while the popular chicken tikka masala now costs £1.57 instead of £2.40.
Prices have been reduced against the backdrop of 3,452 promotions already available.
As part of new investments, Asda is also lowering prices on 49 products from the 'Free From' range, with some reductions of up to 15%.
This decision recognizes that consumers with food allergies often face higher costs.
The discounts also respond to Lidl's announcement of significant discounts on everyday goods.
This supermarket chain is investing £250 million to help shoppers save before Christmas.
This investment complements the Lidl Plus loyalty program, which offers customers the opportunity to receive discounts through the app.
Customers can earn rewards for shopping at Lidl, including free pastries and discounts on future purchases.
The discount chain also confirmed that all stores will be closed on Christmas Day, and most will remain closed on Boxing Day and New Year's Day.
The supermarket forecasts that December 22 will be the busiest shopping day, so shoppers looking for the best discounts should consider their timing when visiting the store.
Food Price Increase
Discounts at supermarkets have come at a timely moment for consumers, especially ahead of Christmas.
Food price inflation reached 5% in September, the highest level since the cost of living crisis of 2022/23.
The British Retail Consortium noted that high prices are driven by rising wages, increased insurance premiums, and new packaging taxes that raise costs for retailers and suppliers.
Food manufacturers are also feeling the pressure from rising business costs.
The latest Asda report showed that low-income households face a weekly shortfall of £74 between their earnings and essential spending.
Thus, the price reductions could represent an important solution for many consumers trying to save during the rising cost of living. The situation in the food market remains tense, but such measures from supermarkets can significantly improve the financial situation of shoppers ahead of the holidays. Many will now be able to purchase essential items at reduced prices, which can relieve financial burdens and make holiday shopping more accessible to a broader range of consumers.
