Lidl will close stores for three days in the UK: when and why.
According to The Sun: Major supermarkets have announced the closure of most of their stores for three days during the Christmas holidays.
The company Lidl announced that all 980 of its stores in the UK will close on Christmas Day.
GettyMost stores will also be closed on Boxing Day and New Year's Day.
On New Year's Day, all stores outside the M25 ring road will close, while on Boxing Day, most outlets outside the M25 and in Wales will also be closed.
To check the hours of your nearest store, you can use the online search or the Lidl Plus app.
So prepare for the holidays and plan your shopping in advance to ensure you won’t run out of essential products.
If you want to avoid the crowds during Christmas, it's best to avoid shopping on December 22 — that day shopping will be most active.
Those who want to avoid lines can visit stores in the morning or evening.
Lidl recommends planning your shopping from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM or after 6:00 PM to reduce the risk of crowding.
Additionally, the supermarket announced an investment of £250 million to lower prices on everyday items.
This move will help shoppers save more during the holiday season.
“Lidl joins many other retailers who are likely to close stores on Boxing Day to give employees a well-deserved break.”
The company Home Bargains has also reported the closure of hundreds of its stores for three days during the holidays.
Last year, the B&M company also closed early on Christmas Eve and operated on reduced hours on Boxing Day.
John Lewis and Ikea also adhered to this schedule, closing their stores on Christmas Eve.
This is a common practice for supermarkets in the UK — to close on Christmas, but not all retailers make the same decision for Boxing Day.
Some, like Sainsbury’s, Primark, Morrisons, and Tesco, choose to operate on reduced hours.

Please note that your local store's hours during Christmas may vary.
Most retailers provide information about their store hours so you can easily find out when you can visit the nearest location.
Why are retailers closing on Boxing Day?
Boxing Day is one of the busiest shopping days of the year.
So why do retailers choose to close? Olivia Marshall, a senior consumer reporter, explains:
Closing on Boxing Day allows employees to have a well-deserved break after the busy Christmas season.
This boosts team morale and reduces burnout.
Furthermore, it provides an opportunity to spend time with family and friends during the holiday period.
For some retailers, the cost of operating on Boxing Day may prove unjustifiable due to low customer traffic.
In the face of rising online sales, some companies focus on online promotions rather than opening physical stores on that day.
Closing on Boxing Day may also be a long-standing tradition for many businesses.
From a practical standpoint, the day after Christmas is often used to check inventory and prepare for post-Christmas sales.
This process can be much more efficient without the distractions of serving customers.
