Satellite Reveals 4.5-Kilometer Gas Station Queue in Russia: Fuel Crisis Hits 13 Regions.
Russia Faces Widespread Fuel Shortages
According to Espreso.tv: A satellite image analysis has uncovered a massive queue at a Rosneft gas station in Zabaykalsky Krai, highlighting a deepening fuel crisis across Russia. The line stretching approximately 4.5 kilometers near the village of Atamanovka was captured on July 3, with between 600 and nearly 800 vehicles waiting simultaneously for fuel.
This particular Rosneft station relies on supplies from the Khabarovsk Oil Refinery, but recent demand has surged dramatically. Local authorities in Zabaykalsky Krai declared a state of heightened alert as early as late June, underscoring the severity of the situation. Reports of similar queues have been confirmed in 13 Russian regions, including Moscow and the Moscow Oblast, indicating a nationwide supply problem.
Fuel Market Turmoil
Strict rationing has been imposed at many gas stations for regular drivers, while officials and security personnel bypass the lines using special cards, identification badges, or the password 'Government.' Additionally, Russian companies have halted maritime exports of diesel fuel to meet soaring domestic demand, further straining the market.
The current fuel crisis stems from a combination of rising internal consumption and limited resources, threatening the stability of transportation infrastructure and economic activity. With privileged access granted to officials, social tensions among the population could escalate, potentially sparking protests and discontent. How the situation unfolds will largely depend on government measures to stabilize the fuel market and resolve supply chain issues.
