The number of cyber attacks and disinformation increased in Switzerland ahead of the Peace Summit, which will take place on June 15-16. This was reported by Reuters.

The head of the Federal Council of Switzerland, Viola Amherd, noted that cyber attacks have become more frequent in recent weeks. However, Switzerland does not plan to call the Russian ambassador.

I wanted this because the disinformation campaign is so strong, anyone can see that little of it reflects reality.

Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis stated that there is interest in holding the conference, but he refused to answer questions about who is behind the attacks and whether Russia is involved.

During the summit, issues of international concern will be discussed, including nuclear and food security, freedom of navigation, as well as humanitarian issues such as the exchange of prisoners of war.

It is reported that Turkey and India have been invited to the summit, but it is not known at what level. It is unclear whether Brazil and South Africa will participate.

Minister Cassis noted that the summit should end with the adoption of a final declaration, which must be supported by all participants. This will determine the next steps in the peace process.

Regarding future summits, Cassis responded that it is impossible to provide details but noted that efforts are currently being made to attract countries «outside the western part of the world». This may encourage the participation of countries in the Global South and Arab countries.

Recall that the Global Peace Summit in Switzerland, organized by Ukraine, will take place on June 15-16. Leaders from more than 100 countries around the world will unite to find ways to achieve sustainable peace in Ukraine and beyond. All countries are invited except Russia, which is the aggressor country.

The upper house of the Swiss parliament supported the proposal to strengthen measures against spies, particularly Russian agents, before the peace summit on Ukraine.

President Zelensky stated that every international leader who seeks a just peace and an end to Russian aggression has the opportunity to join the first peace summit, which will take place in June in Switzerland.
