Svitolina returned to Ukraine on crutches.
Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina returned to Ukraine after undergoing leg surgery. This injury will force her to miss the remainder of the 2024 season. The athlete took a photo on crutches in the center of Kyiv and drew attention to the problem of inclusivity in our country.
She shared her experiences: “I am on crutches and returning to normal life after surgery in Ukraine. It is not easy to move around the city on crutches and lead a full life.
Recently, I visited our soldiers who are undergoing rehabilitation after severe injuries and amputations and are preparing to return home. I also met with civilians who also need inclusive conditions.
These impressions and my personal experience prompted me to write about accessibility. I urge pharmacy, store, restaurant, gym owners, etc. to check if people with disabilities can use their services or at least enter the premises. Ask drivers not to block ramps near buildings and not to park their cars in disabled spots,” Svitolina wrote on Instagram.
Let us remind you that Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina had surgery on her right leg.
