Sergei Naryshkin

Sergei Yevgenyevich Naryshkin - Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation since October 5, 2016. From 2011 to 2016, he was Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the VI Congress, Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union. A member of the Supreme Council of the United Russia party. From May 12, 2008, to December 20, 2011, he was head of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation.
Due to Russia's extensive intervention in Ukraine, he is under sanctions from all EU countries, the USA, the UK, and a number of other countries.
Place of Birth. Education. Born in Leningrad. In 1978, he graduated from the Leningrad Institute of Mechanics with a degree in Radiomechanics Engineering. His second higher education - in the field of Business Administration - he obtained at the St. Petersburg International Institute of Management.

Career. In 1982, he was appointed assistant to the prorector of the Leningrad Polytechnic Institute. As an expert of the State Committee on Science and Technology, he worked in the apparatus of the economic adviser to the USSR Embassy in Belgium.
Since 1992, he has been the head of the department for economic development of the Economic Committee, later of the Economic and Finance Committee of the St. Petersburg City Administration.
In 1995, he moved to St. Petersburg Promstroybank as the head of the foreign investment department.
Since January 1997, he has worked in the government of the Leningrad Oblast as head of the investment department.
In 1998, he became head of the committee for foreign economic and international relations of the government of the Leningrad Oblast.
In 2004, he was appointed deputy head of the Economic Department of the President of the Russian Federation (Vladimir Putin), and in March 2004, he became deputy head of the apparatus of the government of the RF.
Since September 13, 2004 - head of the apparatus of the government of the RF - Minister of the Russian Federation (under Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov).
Since February 15, 2007 - head of the apparatus of the government of the RF - Deputy Prime Minister of the RF (under Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov).
Since May 12, 2008 - head of the Presidential Administration of the RF Dmitry Medvedev.
Since December 4, 2011 - Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation (member of the United Russia faction). On December 21, 2011, he was elected Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation.
On September 22, 2016, after the State Duma elections, the President of the RF, Vladimir Putin, signed a decree appointing Naryshkin as Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation (this position was previously held by Mikhail Fradkov for nine years).
Sanctions. Included in the US and EU sanctions lists in connection with the Russian armed aggression against Ukraine. In 2015, he was denied entry to Finland. In September 2015, Sergei Naryshkin was added to the sanctions list imposed by Ukraine in response to Russian armed aggression (ranked 145 on the list).
