Jewgeni Nischuk

Date of Birth: 29.12.1972

Jewgeni Nikolayevich Nischuk - Ukrainian actor of theater and cinema, People's Artist of Ukraine (2015). Minister of Culture of Ukraine from February 27 to December 2, 2014, and from April 14, 2016, to August 29, 2019. Chairman of the Committee for the Taras Shevchenko Prize of Ukraine since May 22, 2023.

Place of Birth. Education. Born in Ivano-Frankivsk. Graduated in 1995 from the National University of Theater, Cinema and Television of Karpyuk-Karokh in Kyiv (under the workshop of the People's Artist of Ukraine Valentina Zimnaya).

Career. After graduation, Nischuk worked at the Atelier 16 Theater and the Muschla Poetry Theater. He then became an actor at the Kyiv Academic Master School for the Theatre Arts Ensemble Suzyrja.

In November-December 2004, he was a participant in the Orange Revolution, 2013-2014 - an active participant and moderator on the Euromaidan stage, 'Voice of Maidan'.

February 27 - December 2, 2014 - Minister of Culture of Ukraine.

Since January 2015 - actor at the National Academic Drama Theater of Franko.

2014-2015 member of the competition commission responsible for nominating candidates for the position of director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine. He was also a member of the competition commission for selecting candidates for administrative positions in the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office.

On April 14, 2016, the Ukrainian Parliament voted for the dismissal of Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk and supported the candidacy of Volodymyr Groysman. On the same day, the Parliament also approved the new government in which Nischuk again assumed the position of Minister of Culture of Ukraine.

On August 29, 2019, Jewgeni Nischuk resigned from the position of Minister of Culture of Ukraine.

On May 22, 2023, President Volodymyr Zelensky appointed Jewgeni Nischuk as the chairman of the Committee for the Taras Shevchenko Prize of Ukraine.

Filmography. He starred in the films 'The Outcast', 'Island of Love', 'Farewell to Cairo', 'Brotherhood', 'Iron Hundred', 'Mr. Andrei', 'Heart of the World', 'Miracle'.

Awards. In August 2005, he received the title of Honored Artist of Ukraine, in March 2015, the title of People's Artist of Ukraine.

Awardee of the 'Kyiv Pectoral-2013' award in the category 'Best Male Role' for the role 'Beautiful Beast in the Heart' of the Kyiv Academic Master School of Theater Arts 'Constellation'. The award was shared with Alexey Wiertinski.

Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise, 5th class (May 4, 2019).

Marital Status. Married since 1994 to Oksana Batko-Nischuk, actress at Franko Theater in Kyiv, Honored Artist of Ukraine (deceased on October 7, 2016). Has a son, Oleksa.
