Orange Revolution: Ukrainians share memories and photos on the 20th anniversary

On November 21, 2004, Ukrainians began the Orange Revolution - the largest protest in independent Ukraine. Now, on the anniversary of this event, people actively share their memories and publish photos from Maidan on social media.

Journalist Natalkа Fitsich posted archival photos on her Facebook page taken with a disposable camera, showing Petro Poroshenko, Yuriy Lutsenko, Andriy Shkiy, Volodymyr Aryev, and Lidiya Taran.

20 years ago, we showed the authorities and the world that we are not just a population, but Citizens. This was our first lesson in adulthood when the world heard about Ukraine.' - emphasized People's Deputy Iryna Herashchenko.

Yevgen Nyshchuk, a people's artist and head of the Ivan Franko National Theatre, also shared memories and photos from those days. He wrote that he has always been overwhelmed by memories and shared photos where he poses with the caption 'Yes! Yushchenko' and sings the anthem of the Orange Revolution.

On his Facebook page, Mykola Tomenko, a people's deputy, posted a photo with other members of the political movement who were organizers and participants of the protests.

Yulia Tymoshenko also congratulated Ukrainians on the Day of Dignity and Freedom, which coincides with the anniversary of the Orange Revolution.

It should be noted that on November 21, 2004, the first rally took place at Independence Square in Kyiv, which was a reaction to the falsification in favor of Viktor Yanukovych during the presidential elections. This protest spread throughout the country and became the Orange Revolution, which attracted the world's attention. The protests were named after the color used by supporters of Viktor Yushchenko and the party 'Our Ukraine.'

The news portal 'Glavcom' prepared a series of materials for the anniversary of the Orange Revolution, including an interview with Roman Bezsmertny, one of Viktor Yushchenko's closest associates and an active participant in the revolutionary events.
