Ada Rogovtseva

Date of Birth: 07.16.1937

Place of Birth. Education. Born in Glukhov, Sumy Region. In 1959 she graduated from the Kyiv Theater Institute named after I. Karpenko-Karyi.

Career. For 35 years (since 1959) she worked at the National Academic Theater of Russian Drama named after L. Ukrainka (Kyiv). She acted in films from the Dovzhenko, Mosfilm, Lenfilm, Gorky, Odessa Film Studios, and on Ukrainian and Russian television. She participated in radio productions.

After her farewell from the Ukrainka Theater, she tours with concert programs and chamber theaters.

The pearls of Ada Rogovtseva's creativity include theater roles as Helena ('Warsaw Melody'), Lesia Ukrainka ('Hope'), Paola ('The Lady with the Camellias'), Ranevskaya ('The Cherry Orchard'), Esther ('Holy Monstrosity').

She appeared in films such as 'Hail, Mary', 'The Taming of Fire', 'The Eternal Call', 'Autumn Story', and many others.

Ada Rogovtseva is a professor, teacher in the Department of Speakers and Hosts of Television Programs at the National University of Culture and Arts in Kyiv. Lecturer at the Kyiv Theater Institute named after I. Karpenko-Karyi.

From 1994 to 1997 and from 2007 to 2012, she worked at the Kyiv Academic Theater of Drama and Comedy on the Left Bank. In 2016, she returned to the theater with the revived sold-out performance 'Vasya Must Call'.

Since December 2016, she has been a member of the Committee for the Taras Shevchenko National Prize of Ukraine.

Books. Author of the poetry collection 'Mom's Prayers', the biographical book 'My Kostya'.

Awards. Honored Artist of the USSR (1978). Honored Artist of Ukraine. Winner of the Taras Shevchenko State Prize of Ukraine, the Mikhail Shchekavitsa Prize of the Union of Theater Workers, the 'Kyiv Pectoral' Prize (twice). Winner of the All-Ukrainian Program 'Regional Leaders' (2002). Honorary citizen of Kyiv (2007).

Heroine of Ukraine (2007). Awarded the Order of Merit III class, the Order of Princess Olga III class.

Social Position. She actively supports ATO fighters, performs concerts for ATO fighters, organized a fundraising campaign for a hospital for Ukrainian soldiers, and raised 52,000 for the treatment of the wounded, for which a criminal case was initiated against her in Russia in September 2015. Declared a foreign agent in Russia. After the arrest of Oleg Sentsov by Russia she published a video message calling on everyone to help release him.

Family. She was married to the famous actor Konstantin Stepankov (died 2004). The couple raised a daughter Ekaterina (worked at the Roman Viktyuk Theater in Moscow, since 2007 director at the Kyiv Theater of Drama and Comedy on the Left Bank) and a son Konstantin (worked at the International Academy of Ecology).
