Ten Hag was unable to stabilize the results at the start of the season, having lost one of the first two games, which led to his dismissal by the club management last week.
His successor is Kasper Hjulmand, who already achieved an impressive victory in his first game in his new position.
Hjulmand led Leverkusen to a 3:1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt at the BayArena, despite being a man down.
Leverkusen opened the scoring with goals from Alejandro Grimaldo and Patrick Schick, but Eintracht equalized with a goal from Kana Uzun.
The visitors gained significant dominance after the red cards for Robert Andrich and Equi Fernandes.
Nevertheless, Leverkusen was able to maintain the lead and confirmed it with Grimaldo's final goal.
Fans' Reactions
The fans actively discussed Leverkusen's first success in the Bundesliga on social media. Some of them blamed Ten Hag for the team's poor outcomes.
“Ten Hag was the problem.”
Another fan joked:
“Ten Hag would have still found a way to lose with 11.”
A third one wrote:
“This is hard to believe.”
One fan noted: “We all know where the problem lies.”
And another wrote: “Wow.”
Following Kasper Hjulmand's successful debut as coach, Bayer Leverkusen will surely try to stabilize its position in the Bundesliga. A new momentum can be felt in the team, and it is important for fans that this victory marks the beginning of a new positive streak this season. Upcoming games will show whether the players can maintain this success and continue to develop under the new coach.
