Ban for Chinese Tennis Player
Chinese tennis player Pang Zhenglun has received a 12-year ban for manipulating match results. The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) revealed that the 25-year-old athlete attempted to influence the outcomes of 22 matches from May to September last year.In addition to the ban, he has also been fined $110,000 (£82,000).“This shows serious violations of sports ethics that we cannot tolerate.”The imposed sanctions are an important step in the fight against match-fixing in tennis. This confirms the determination of international organizations to uphold the integrity of the sport and ensure fair competition. The measures being taken could also deter potential offenders and establish new standards for ethical conduct in sports.
