According to The Sun: Former tennis player Camila Giorgi is back in the spotlight, attending the Venice Film Festival over the weekend.

The 33-year-old Giorgi returned to Italy following allegations of fleeing from law enforcement over potential tax evasion and unpaid rent.

Giorgi, who began her career in lingerie modeling after her sporting achievements, has practically disappeared from sight following an unexpected exit from the sport in May last year due to financial issues.

Accusations and Denials

At the Venice Film Festival, she appeared on the red carpet in a luxurious white sequined dress. After her career ended, Giorgi has faced accusations of not paying six months' rent for a villa near Florence.

There have also been rumors that she attempted to evade tax authorities, which she categorically denies.

“These rental arrears allegations are ridiculous,” she stated in an interview on the Italian show Verissimo last fall.

“It was not an escape. I was constantly moving to America with my parents,” she added.

Giorgi claims that her issues with the tax authorities arose due to her former attorney, with whom she stopped working.

“The tax issues? My family was unaware of them. They were problems created by the people who managed me,” she added.

Sporting Achievements

Camila Giorgi achieved 26th place in the world rankings in 2018. Among her best results are reaching the round of 16 at the US Open in 2013 and participating in the quarter-finals at Wimbledon in 2018.
