Kyiv's Heating Networks on the Brink: Expert Explained Why People Will Have Cold Radiators in Winter.
Condition of Heating Networks in Kyiv: Heat Loss Reaches 40-50%
The head of the Union of Utility Consumers, Oleg Popenko, stated that due to the deplorable state of the heating networks, heat loss reaches 40-50%. He mentioned this on the air of "News. Live".
"Even if they were supplying the heating agent according to the standard, the state of our heating networks is so bad that the heating agent reaching the apartment will be at the level of 13-15 degrees. Because we have losses in the heating network in Kyiv up to 40%, losses in multi-apartment buildings up to 50%. Therefore, 95% of our multi-apartment buildings are not insulated," said Popenko.
He noted that this leads to significant heat loss and the formation of "greenhouses" in the yards of old buildings over heating pipes. Moreover, the expert reported that out of 2600 kilometers of heating networks in Kyiv, about 600-700 kilometers require urgent capital repairs. However, these figures may be inaccurate, as no technical audit was conducted after the transfer of pipes from "Kyivenergo".
Popenko emphasized that the problem is complicated by the lack of accurate data on the state of the networks. The situation requires immediate intervention and a comprehensive approach to modernizing the capital's heating infrastructure.
