Terence Crawford on preparation for the fight with Canelo Alvarez
According to The Sun: Terence Crawford shared his thoughts on the criticism regarding excessive weight before an important fight with Canelo Alvarez, denying concerns about his stamina.
The undefeated American boxer is stepping up two weight divisions and one stone for the match against the undisputed super middleweight champion Canelo, which will take place on Saturday.
@tbudcrawfordCrawford has shown his excellent physical form in the days leading up to the fight.
However, former UFC champion Ilia Topuria sparked discussions by posting a photo with Crawford, in which the boxer looked noticeably bulkier.
Internet users discovered that the photo was taken a few months ago, and Topuria decided to post it on the eve of the fight.
Although Crawford is facing critical comments online claiming he has gained too much weight for the title fights with WBC, WBA, IBF, and WBO.
“I am at my natural weight,” he emphasized at a press conference in Las Vegas.
“When I gain weight, a lot of people exaggerate: ‘Oh, he’s slow, he has gained weight and is getting fat.’ I just want to fight.”
Canelo, who has won titles in divisions from super featherweight to lightweight, also knows what it's like to move up in weight.

He also commented on Crawford's physical preparation:
“Muscles mean nothing to me. I have fought bigger opponents, and it doesn't matter,” emphasized Canelo.
“But when I saw that he had a great training camp, it pleased me because this will be a good fight.”
37-year-old Crawford met 35-year-old Canelo for the first time during fight week near the iconic Bellagio fountain in Las Vegas.
There isn’t a significant size difference between the boxers, despite Crawford starting his career in the lightweight division - 135 pounds.
“I don’t care who is bigger, we still have to fight,” noted Crawford.
“On fight night, that’s the only thing I worry about or think about. I am just waiting, counting down the days.”
Crawford admitted that he has been hurt by smaller opponents in his career but denied concerns about his ability to withstand punches at a higher weight.
“Listen. I have never been dropped, so they can doubt as much as they want,” he stressed.
“Was I hurt? Yes, I was. And him? Yes, too, but that’s just how it happens. Let’s settle this in the ring.”
