According to The Sun: Footage shows the F/A-18 Hornet fighter jet rapidly accelerating on the runway and taking off moments before the engines exploded.
“We want to inform you about the crash of the F/A-18D Hornet at 21:05 on August 21 at Sultan Ahmad Shah Airport in Kuantan,” reported the Royal Malaysian Air Force.
The Boeing aircraft, operated by the Royal Malaysian Air Force, was seen roaring down the runway, leaving a trail of flames behind.
The moment of the plane's crash was accompanied by a bright fireball as it disintegrated.
Two pilots on board managed to eject just before the plane fell.
Witnesses on the ground reported that the crash sounded like a rocket strike and could be heard from at least a mile away.
Malaysian Mazlan Abdullah, who was dining at a restaurant near the military airbase, told the Bernama agency: “After the explosion, I saw flames at the airport and smoke rising.
“At first, there was a fire, but then there was an explosion, and the flames became thicker.”
The terrifying plane crash is the second such incident involving a military training aircraft crashing onto school grounds.
This time, 27 people were killed in the accident, including 25 children and one teacher.
The pilot of the aircraft died as a result of the crash, and the Bangladeshi army confirmed that it was a training aircraft.
