Races in Doncaster: Favorite Sweet William aims for his second cup.
According to The Sun: If there is a God, then reliable SWEET WILLIAM will surely win his second Doncaster Cup from Betfred on Friday for the wonderful Philippa Cooper and her Normandie Stud.
Sweet William last triumphed exactly a year ago, edging out Trueshan, while Coltrane finished fourth.
PAAlthough he may not be the strongest competitor, many are hoping for another Sweet William victory in the Doncaster Cup.
This win could be a rematch for the defeat against Trueshan in 2023, which came after Sweet William's impressive second place at Ebor.
Sweet William slightly trails the leaders in his class, but his fourth place at the Ascot Cup, third at the Goodwood Cup, and second at Lonsdale indicate his competitiveness in this race.
The official handicapper believes he is 2 pounds better than last year, although his rating has decreased from 117 to 115 for this season.
Robert Havlin rides him for John and Thady Gosden, and previous results promise that Sweet William will be a favorite, as seven of the last ten favorites have won.
The Gosdens have already won with Stradivarius (twice) and Samuel in 2010, who also belonged to Cooper.
Predictions for other races
The Doncaster Cup will be broadcast live on ITV, starting with the Betfred Mallard Handicap race over 1m6f.
The race promises to be interesting, as it features horses that appear less frequently on the track or perform better on hard ground.
Dermot Weld has a representative from Ireland named DURAJI, who placed fourth in a respectable handicap at Goodwood.
While I doubt he will perform brilliantly at the tactical level with a rating of 98, the conditions look ideal for betting, and he has a decent jockey in William Buick.
The next race is the Listed Betfred Flying Scotsman for juveniles over 7f.
I am backing NORTHERN CHAMPION, who performed well on debut in France at the same distance under similar conditions.
The second-place finisher from the last race indeed won at Ascot, so he has potential, as Ed Walker's horses typically improve with each start.
It is worth noting that Kieran Shoemark has shown good results for Walker this season.
This is a historic competition where in 2010 Frankel looked as if he was from another planet.
The grand sprint for juveniles will be the Group 2 Carlsberg Danish Pilsner Flying Childers over 5f.
LADY IMAN will be able to quickly rehabilitate herself after a setback at Nunthorpe and prove that she remains a classy horse from Gerard Lyon and Colin Keane.
She triumphed over some competitors in Molecomb at Goodwood and, although she does not like too soft ground, has good chances in her age group.
ITV will also show the handicap over 1m4f.
This could be a tough challenge for BOSPHORUS ROSE, however, the conditions look perfect for her as a representative of Sir Mark Prescott, ridden by Luke Morris.
Since the start of the season, she has risen from a rating of 74 to 91, but has performed well on soft ground in Catterick and won at Tirska last time.
This is a significant test, but if she manages, the team plans to focus on getting Black Type after this.
Finally, ITV will move to Salisbury for the postponed Group 3 Dick Poole Fillies’ Stakes for younger horses over 6f.
Many of them are open to significant improvement.
ANTHELIA got a good draw, provided there are no side appearances; last time she showed herself decently, considering the color nuances.
She ran well in that race and is capable of handling this under the guidance of Rod Millman and Lewis Edmonds.
Good luck!
Watching the Doncaster Cup and other races, horse fans look forward to the results, as these competitions promise to be tense and thrilling. Attention is focused not only on the main favorites but also on new faces that could surprise in the final standings.
Winning the Doncaster Cup could significantly impact the careers of horses and their trainers, especially in light of such historic events as Sweet William's victory a year ago. This creates tension and excitement not only on the track but also among fans, who are eagerly awaiting the results.
