Chelsea received 74 charges from the FA due to transfers of Eden Hazard and Willian.
This incident involved three former Chelsea stars
According to The Sun: Three former Chelsea players have come under serious allegations from the club, which has received 74 charges for breaching regulations regarding agent operations during the era of Roman Abramovich.
On Thursday, the club was charged over a series of undisclosed payments that were approved by Abramovich without the knowledge of other Chelsea executives.
These violations relate to the transfers of three players: Samuel Eto'o, Willian, and Eden Hazard.
“A total of 74 charges have been brought against Chelsea FC,”– stated the Football Association.
Hazard joined Chelsea from Lille for £32 million in 2012, as the club had just won its first Champions League. The following year, Willian transferred for £30 million, and Eto'o cost around £2 million.
Information about 'unofficial' payments approved by the club's former owner may indicate that money was funneled through offshore structures to agents and officials.
Club owners reported the violations
The three mentioned Chelsea players are not considered guilty of any wrongdoing.
“We wish to express our gratitude to the Football Association for their cooperation,”– commented the club.
The new club owners, Todd Boehly, Behdad Eghbali, and their consortium Clearlake, uncovered the violations in May 2022 during the club's acquisition process. They reported this to the FA, UEFA, and the Premier League.
The investigation is ongoing, and sanctions for the club are expected to be unprecedented. Chelsea is providing full cooperation to the new authorities, attempting to resolve the situation swiftly.
