Former Liverpool defender criticized Sancho: He has no outstanding quality.
Jamie Carragher's criticism of Jadon Sancho
According to The Sun: Jamie Carragher harshly commented on Jadon Sancho's unsuccessful transfer, calling it the 'worst transfer in Manchester United's history'. He noted:
“There’s not much ability there.”
Carragher, 47, along with Paul Scholes, participated in a discussion on The Overlap Fan Debate program after the transfer window closed.

The Mancunians spent £73 million on Sancho’s acquisition from Borussia Dortmund in 2021, however, the player scored only 12 goals and provided 6 assists in 83 matches for the 'Red Devils'.
Among other candidates for this 'unwanted title' are Antony (£85.5 million), Romelu Lukaku (£90 million), and Angel Di Maria (£59 million).
Controversial opinions about Sancho
Carragher did not deny the fans' opinion that Sancho, 25, indeed deserves this title and expressed his clear position regarding the winger.
He said on Sky Bet’s The Overlap:
“I’m still not sure there’s that much ability there.”
Carragher noted that, although he criticized Marcus Rashford, he found it easier to imagine the strengths of that player. In Sancho's case, in his opinion, there is no clarity about his strong qualities:
“With Sancho, I just don’t know what his thing is – I can’t picture it in my head.”
A fan claimed that Sancho has the 'ability to dribble in tight spaces', but Carragher dismissed this notion:
“I’ve never seen it in my life. I haven’t.”
New stage of Sancho’s career
Sancho became part of Ruben Amorim's 'Bomb Squad' in the summer when Chelsea agreed to pay £5 million to not sign him on a permanent basis after his loan.
However, on the day the transfer window closed, he signed a loan deal with Aston Villa, surprising Scholes.
Scholes expressed the opinion that
“Unai Emery might be good for him, but he is a weird signing.”
Having received number 19 at Villa, Sancho may debut in a match against Everton on Saturday. Although his parent club did not qualify for any European tournaments this season, Sancho will be able to be part of the Europa League campaign.

Jamie Carragher's criticism of Jadon Sancho reflects the overall mood of fans and experts regarding the player's not very successful transition to Manchester United. Now, after changing clubs, Sancho will have the opportunity to prove his worth under Unai Emery at Aston Villa. Whether he will be able to improve his game and meet expectations will be shown by time.
