Tragic loss in sport: racehorse Ruling Court was euthanized due to illness.
Sad loss for Godolphin: Ruling Court has been euthanized
According to The Sun: Trainer Charlie Appleby is going through tough times after the horse Ruling Court, who won the 2,000 Guineas, had to be euthanized.
This outstanding representative of Godolphin won three out of six races in his career and earned over £600,000.
GettyUnfortunately, veterinarians were forced to make the decision to euthanize due to complications related to laminitis, a hoof disease.
“An impressive winner of this year's G1 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket, Ruling Court was sadly euthanized due to complications caused by laminitis. His classic win became part of the weekend history for Godolphin, and he always remained among the leaders in all his six starts.”
Trainer Appleby expressed his condolences:
“Everyone at Godolphin is deeply saddened by the loss of Ruling Court. He gave everyone a wonderful day at Newmarket in May, and we will sincerely miss him. I would like to thank the entire team who did everything possible to save him.”
Career and achievements of Ruling Court
Ruling Court debuted at Sandown last July, after which he finished third in the Group 3 Acomb at York. After a break, he won a Listed race at Meydan in Dubai in March this year.
This prepared him for victory in the 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket in May, where he outpaced strong Group 1 rival, Field Of Gold, under the superb guidance of William Buick.
He was later withdrawn from the Derby due to unacceptable covering, and then finished third in the St James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot.
His last appearance was a third place in the incredible Coral-Eclipse at Sandown last month, where Delacrux from Aidan O'Brien emerged victorious in a spectacular competition.
This loss is a significant blow to the Godolphin team, which continues to work on developing young horses and achieving success in international racing. Ruling Court will be remembered for his achievements and the impressions he brought to horse racing fans.
