The owners of Manchester United are ready to sell the club: Who will be the new investor?

According to The Sun: The Glazers are finally ready to sell Manchester United, according to a surprising statement from Finnish entrepreneur Thomas Zilliakus, who previously tried to buy the club.

It is worth noting that Zilliakus was one of the first to express his interest in purchasing the club when the Glazers announced a possible partial or full sale in November 2022.

However, his unusual approach, which called for fans to raise £1.5 billion to contribute in addition to £3 billion from his own funds, did not work. Instead, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the firm Ineos received 30% of the shares and took control of the footballing affairs.

Speculation, fueled by the statement from Saudi official Turki Alalshikh about the possible sale of the club, has sent the 'United' sources into a panic.

"Last week, I sat there thinking about all the possibilities to invest in Manchester United, and I put together a basic plan on how I could approach certain aspects to see if something could be done," Zilliakus said in an interview with Manchester Evening News.

He noted that he plans to team up with billionaires like Ratcliffe or Sheikh Jassim from Qatar to eliminate the Glazers.

Zilliakus emotionally emphasized: "My heart aches when I see how things stand today. Manchester United is so far from where the club should be and could be if everything had been managed correctly."

The 69-year-old entrepreneur also noted that he is willing to negotiate with the Glazers on an offer for a "smaller stake" so that they can continue to receive a stable income.

Speculation about a possible sale

It is important that he believes the Glazers are ready to sell their stake, as they have "made so much money with the club" since their takeover in 2005.

"That's what I would think. They have already made so much money from the club."

Zilliakus expressed hope that investors will emerge who are willing to think about the club's future and not just their own profit. He again urged Ratcliffe to join him in the fight against the Glazers.

The topic of a possible sale of Manchester United intensifies against the backdrop of an escalating crisis within the club, as the Glazers' decisions could have significant consequences for the team's future. According to Zilliakus, it is important that new investors focus on the club's long-term development and not just on financial benefits. This gives fans hope for positive changes and an improvement in the situation of their beloved team.
