Heating Savings: How to Dry Clothes in Winter Without Extra Costs

According to The Sun: When sunny weather changes to rainy and cold, drying clothes outside becomes more difficult.

Still, outdoor drying remains possible since dryers consume a lot of electricity. Here are some economical options for indoor drying.

Here are some tips you will need...

Drying Outdoors

Even when the temperature drops, if there is no fog, mist, or rain, and the temperature is around 7°C, you can continue to hang clothes outside – they will dry naturally.

Items should be hung with enough distance between them. If possible, move clothes throughout the day to track the sun.

Using the Spin Cycle

Run an extra spin cycle in the washing machine instead of placing clothes in the dryer.

Cotton shirts, jeans, and similar items are easier to iron when they are damp, plus the heat from the iron will help to dry them.

Just hang the clothes, including already ironed items, so they can dry slowly.

Heat and Drying

It is not recommended to hang clothes on radiators, hoping to dry them faster.

Damp clothes trap heat and increase heating costs.

Electric drying racks may prove beneficial in the cold and damp winter months. They consume very little electricity per hour of operation and are especially effective with a suitable cover that prevents heat loss.

Or you can simply use a regular sheet to do the job.
