Macron to Resume Contacts with Putin and Reveals Details of France's Peacekeeping Mission.
According to ТСН: French President Emmanuel Macron announced his intention to resume contacts with Putin in the coming weeks. This happened during the 'Coalition of Willing' summit in Paris.
Resuming Dialogue and Supporting Peace
In response to journalists' questions, Macron noted that he plans to 'resume contacts in the coming weeks.' He added that 'thousands of French soldiers may be deployed to support peace in Ukraine after the signing of a peace treaty.'
'We have expressed our readiness to be deployed in these multinational forces. These are not forces that will be engaged in combat. These are calming forces after the signing of peace,'Macron emphasized, highlighting that this concerns 'the potential of several thousand servicemen.'
Monitoring Ceasefire
The French leader also indicated that the United States will take the initiative to monitor the ceasefire after the signing of the peace agreement.
'This Paris summit changed the fact that for the first time there was cooperation between the Coalition of Willing, Ukrainians, and Americans, and the Americans stated that they are ready to do so. They will be the ones to lead the monitoring of the ceasefire. That is, all the work related to whether the border zone is violated or not,'Macron concluded.
At the summit, Macron, Starmer, and Zelensky signed a declaration of intent to deploy multinational forces after the ceasefire in Ukraine. The United States also promised support for Ukraine in the event of a new attack by the Russian Federation.
These steps indicate an intensification of international efforts to ensure peace in Ukraine. The resumption of contacts between France and Russia may become an important step in the process of achieving stability in the region, and the support of the international community is crucial for further peace initiatives.
