According to Forbes analyst David Axe, this breakthrough was more successful than expected. Despite the fact that the AFU broke through the Russian defenses, they faced stiff resistance from Russian forces near the breakthrough. The Russian authorities announced the successful repulsion of the attack.

The Forbes analyst noted that it seems the AFU reached the southern outskirts of Vesele. This creates a threat to Russian troops who might be encircled.

It is not yet known how this operation will change the course of the conflict. At best, it may halt the Russian counteroffensive to the east.
