Tommy Fury Could Not Complete the World-Class Triathlon

According to The Sun: Tommy Fury, the younger brother of Tyson Fury, was unable to finish his first triathlon on the French Riviera, where he competed last weekend. He prepared for this event in just ten days.

After the competition ended, he shared his emotions on social media, noting that he 'gave it his all' and quickly met up with his partner Molly-Mae Hague and daughter Bambi.

From the challenging route comprising three stages: 2 km swimming, 80 km cycling, and 18 km running, Tommy was unable to finish the race. According to Marathon Investigation, he failed to complete more than 48 km of the cycling leg.

Monitoring of the cycling leg occurred every 6 km, and on the Sportstats website, Fury's performance ended with a large notice saying 'DNF' next to his name.

This led to Fury being among 93 athletes who did not finish the route. According to tri247.com, these changes occurred due to a reduction in road closure time as the cycling course for amateurs was altered.

Amateurs were supposed to complete six laps of approximately 13 km, which meant they would not have had time to finish the cycling leg before roads opened to traffic.

The professional triathletes organization noted that 'due to our road closure permits in France, unfortunately, Tommy and some other athletes were unable to finish the cycling leg before the time limit.'

'However, considering our philosophy of promoting the sport and encouraging new athletes, we wanted to provide them with the most complete experience possible.'

'Thus, they were all given the opportunity to run 18 km and cross the finish line.'

Tommy returned to the boxing ring in May, securing a victory over lesser-known Bosnian Kenan Handzhalich in Budapest. This was his first fight following an arm surgery conducted after his win against YouTube star KSI in October 2023.

However, during his return to the ring, Fury suffered more arm injuries, leaving his boxing future uncertain. The winner of 'Love Island' 2019 continues to stay fit despite injuries.

He also participated in the Great North Run – a half marathon of 13.1 miles. Molly-Mae and daughter Bambi flew down to the south of France to surprise Fury, who admitted that meeting at the finish line was the 'brightest moment of the race.'

Despite the setback, he continues to stay active and engage in sports, which may reflect his determination not to give up in the face of challenges. The skills and experience he has gained may still be useful to him in the future, both in sports and in his personal life.
