Trade between Russia and China fell for the first time in 5 years: what billions Kremlin lost.
Decrease in trade turnover between Russia and China
According to TSN.ua: In 2022, the trade turnover between Russia and China decreased, marking the first drop in the last five years. The total value of bilateral trade amounted to 228.1 billion dollars, which is 6.9% less than in 2021. Exports of Chinese goods to Russia decreased by 9.9%, while imports of Russian products to China fell by 3.4%.
The decline in trade between the two countries reflects negative trends in several sectors. Oil imports from Russia fell by 20%, and imports of petroleum products decreased by 16-40%. Coal imports also saw a significant decline of 29%. Supplies of ferrous metals dropped nearly threefold, while timber exports fell by 8.7%.
Changes in goods supplies
At the same time, there is growth in some categories of goods:
- Aluminum supplies increased by 68%
- Nickel supplies - by 53%
- Copper supplies - by 67%
Meanwhile, car purchases from China nearly halved, and supplies of industrial equipment decreased by 11%. Imports of liquefied gas fell by 1.8%.
Such results indicate that economic interactions between Russia and China have undergone significant changes, which may have serious consequences for both countries in the future.
The decrease in trade turnover between Russia and China indicates that the economic relations between these countries are becoming increasingly unstable. These changes may be the result of political and economic factors, including sanctions that have affected both markets. The further development of the situation could significantly change the structure of bilateral trade and impact economic stability in both countries.
