Dane Scarlett's Training with the England National Team

According to The Sun: Dane Scarlett joined the England national team's training on Monday, replacing the injured Ollie Watkins.

The Three Lions held a session at Tottenham's training ground before heading to Latvia, where they are set to play a World Cup qualifying match.

Head coach Thomas Tuchel is without a striker as Watkins returned to Aston Villa due to an injury sustained in the match against Wales.

Scarlett has become one of the few Tottenham players who remained in London during the international break.

The 21-year-old forward has experience playing for the under-21 national team, although he was not called up for the latest squad.

He will stay in London at least for the first half of the season, as Tottenham decided not to send him out on loan.

Thus, Scarlett found himself at the right time in the right place when Tuchel was searching for a central striker for training.

The young player was spotted performing drills alongside Spurs legend Harry Kane, which was published on social media.

However, Scarlett will not travel for the match against Latvia, which could secure England a place at next year's World Cup.

A win in this match will be enough for the Three Lions, as there are still two qualifying matches ahead.

The national record holder for goals, Kane, will be back in the matchday squad after missing the meeting with Wales.

Jarrod Bowen, Marcus Rashford, and Anthony Gordon may also occupy a central position if needed.

Expectations for Scarlett

Scarlett was expected to achieve great success when he debuted for Tottenham at the age of 16 years and 247 days, becoming the youngest player in the club's history until Alfie Devine broke that record in 2021.

He gained experience playing at the senior level during loan spells at Portsmouth, Ipswich, and Oxford United, but so far has not met the expected success.

Spurs head coach Thomas Frank has not given Scarlett any minutes of play in the opening matches of this season.

Last season, Scarlett spent time on loan at Oxford United.

The situation surrounding Scarlett indicates active work by the coaching staff as the team seeks new talent among young players. His involvement in training with the national team puts him in the spotlight and provides an opportunity to showcase his abilities on a big stage.

Upcoming World Cup qualifying matches will determine not only England’s future on the international stage but also the chance for new players like Scarlett to establish themselves in the main squad.
