Tottenham rejected two proposals to buy the club: who tried.
Tottenham rejected two proposals for a buyout
According to The Sun: The Tottenham club has already rejected two buyout requests following the unexpected departure of Daniel Levy.
One of these proposals came from former Newcastle manager Amanda Staveley.
Daniel Levy left Tottenham on Thursday evening, which was a surprise PA ReutersLevy's unexpected dismissal from the position of executive chairman last week sparked rumors about a possible buyout of the club.
ENIC, which owns 87% of Tottenham's shares, insists that the club is not for sale, and a statement from Spurs emphasizes that no management changes are planned.
Staveley sent a “preliminary expression of interest” regarding this London club through her company PCP International Finance Limited.
The second request was sent by a consortium led by Dr. Roger Kennedy and Wing-Fai Ng.
Tottenham confirmed these approaches in a statement on Sunday evening, noting that they were “categorically rejected.”
Spurs said: “The board of Tottenham Hotspur Limited is aware of recent media speculation and confirms that its majority shareholder, Enic Sports & Developments Holdings Ltd, has received and categorically rejected individual preliminary expressions of interest regarding proposals to purchase all issued and to be issued shares of Enic from (i) PCP International Finance Limited and (ii) a consortium of investors led by Dr. Roger Kennedy and Wing-Fai Ng via Firehawk Holdings Limited (the consortium).
“In light of Enic's majority stake in Tottenham Hotspur, if any proposal were made to acquire Enic and completed, a mandatory offer would be required under Rule 9 of the Code for the Acquisition of Shares in Tottenham Hotspur that are not already owned by Enic.
“The club's board and Enic confirm that Tottenham Hotspur is not for sale, and Enic has no intention of accepting such a proposal to acquire its stake in the club.
ENIC was previously led by British billionaire Joe Lewis, and its management is now undertaken by his children Vivien and Charlie.
They have been actively involved in changes at Tottenham in recent months, including appointing former Arsenal chairman Vinay Venkatesham as CEO, after which Levy was dismissed.
Despite this, the ENIC group owns Tavistock, part-owned by Levy's son Joshua, which has caused associations with the TV show 'Succession' due to family dynamics.
