The video gathered many positive comments from Hatton's fans. One of them called out: “keep setting an example” and referred to him as “the champion of the people”.

Others remarked on him as a “great inspiration” for returning to the ring after battling his own demons.

“You still got the moves,” noted another commentator.

Tragic loss

The Manchester legend passed away at the age of 46. Hatton, who received an MBE title, worked as a promoter and coach after his boxing career ended.

He also appeared on the show “Dancing on Ice” last year.

Ricky, a fan of the band Oasis, invited brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher during his fight in 2008, and later attended their concerts.

It is widely reported that his comments about their return became an inspiration for him.

Hatton's career lasted from 1997 to 2012, during which he won world titles.

Recently, he announced his intention to return to the ring on December 2 for a fight in Dubai with Eisa Alda, thirteen years after a failed comeback against Vyacheslav Senchenko.

After retiring, Hatton struggled with alcoholism and depression, but managed to gather himself before the exhibition fight with Mexican great Marco Antonio Barrera.

Hatton, known as The Hitman, fought the most notable boxers in history.

However, like many former boxers, he found it hard to cope with the devastation from professional boxing after retiring in 2012.

He recently shared his thoughts on the planned return:

“I think I know which fights I can have and which are too tough for me. And this is one of those I can do. Don’t worry about me.”

He added:

“I’m proud to have been so loved, and people worry when they hear about my return. But I’m not as stupid as I seem.”

Ricky Hatton's greatest victories

Ricky Hatton only suffered three defeats in his brilliant career, which includes 46 fights, earning around £37 million in prize money. Here are some of his most memorable victories:

  • Tommy Peikouk - knockout in the 11th round for the Central Area title in lightweight.
  • John Tockton - by points, received national titles in lightweight.
  • Kostya Tszyu - won IBF and The Ring titles at home.
  • Luis Collazo - unanimous decision.
  • Paul Malignaggi - final victory by knockout in the 11th round, received $2.5 million.

Six months later, Ricky suffered defeat in a match against Floyd Mayweather.

He also noted:

“This is one of them, so I’ll make you proud again.”

“The celebration can’t go on forever,” he admitted. “Sooner or later, you have to slow down. And I feel that I’ve reached that stage.”

“But I’m in such a good place mentally compared to where I was a few years ago, physically.”

“I no longer have six-pack abs, but, you know, Ricky Hatton's belly has gone.”

“So all is well, and it's nice considering how bad it was, and how it is now.”

The boxing legend grew up on the streets, leaving school to work with his father. It was a long and arduous journey filled with struggles with mental health and addictions.

Nevertheless, his career was historic, winning many titles and becoming a symbol for British fans.
