Ban on railway companies' advertising
Three major railway companies have been banned from publishing 'misleading' advertisements as they failed to prove that their tickets are truly the most advantageous on the market. The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) ruled that the companies Greater Anglia, ScotRail, and the website MyTrainTicket violated regulations by claiming that their fares are 'unbeatable' or 'the cheapest'.“This ban applies only to those advertisements that contain false and misleading claims.”According to ASA's findings, companies must be more careful in their advertising campaigns to avoid similar situations in the future. This decision emphasizes the importance of the reliability of information in advertising materials, as price manipulation can seriously affect consumers. Companies must now review their advertising approaches and ensure that their claims are truthful, otherwise they face new sanctions.
