According to ТСН: G7 leaders plan to meet with US President Donald Trump at the World Economic Forum in Davos to secure his confirmation regarding security guarantees for Ukraine in the context of a potential peace agreement.

According to information from high-ranking European officials, the meeting will focus on obtaining Trump's personal approval on security arrangements prepared by his administration along with the US European Command.

In addition to the leaders of Italy, Germany, France, Canada, and the United Kingdom, the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen will also attend the meeting. It is expected that negotiations may include other representatives of the 'coalition of the willing' – countries that actively support Ukraine, and national security advisors will hold a separate meeting.

European capitals are concerned about the level of Trump's engagement in supporting Ukraine after a potential peace agreement with Russia. His previous statements have sometimes raised questions about his true position.

“Most security protocols have already been agreed upon, and they are stronger than ever before”
– stated Trump's chief negotiator on Russia, Steve Witkoff, after the meeting in Paris. The US delegation at the forum will also include Jared Kushner and Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
“Nothing of this would have happened without the involvement of the US”
– noted one European official, referring to the commitments of the UK and France regarding troop deployment in Ukraine.

The presence of six leaders and the head of the European Commission will set a record for G7 participation at the forum. Previously, the focus was on technology and business topics, but now geopolitical issues are coming to the forefront.

Von der Leyen emphasized that the current security guarantees are “substantial, reliable, and clearly defined.” She also noted that the results of the negotiations are the product of hard work by various countries.

The ongoing security negotiations have not included direct trilateral discussions with Russia, and it is unknown whether Moscow will agree to the proposals. The main goal is to ensure that even after a potential ceasefire, Russia does not resume military actions.

It was previously reported that Trump is willing to commit the US to the defense of Ukraine, but only on the condition that the Russian Federation does not attempt to attack again.

This meeting may be decisive for concluding new security agreements in the region. It illustrates that the issue of supporting Ukraine remains at the forefront of international leaders' attention, while also highlighting the role of the US in the geopolitical arena. Now it is important not only to confirm commitments but also to alleviate concerns in European capitals regarding security in the context of a potential peace with Russia.
