Trump ready to own Gaza but will allow other countries to rebuild

U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he is open to the idea of buying and owning Gaza, but may hand over the reconstruction of parts of the war-damaged land to other Middle Eastern countries.

'I support the idea of buying and owning Gaza. As for reconstruction, we can pass this to other Middle Eastern countries to build on their plots. Other people can do this under our guidance. But we are going to own it, take it and make sure that HAMAS cannot return,' he said, as reported by UNIAN citing Reuters.

Trump expressed his thoughts aboard Air Force One as he flew to New Orleans for the National Football League Super Bowl match.

'There is nothing there to go back to. This place is for demolition. The remaining parts will be demolished. Everything will be razed,' he shared his opinion.

Additionally, Trump noted that he does not oppose the entry of some Palestinian refugees into the U.S., but such requests will be considered individually.

HAMAS Politburo member Ezzat El-Rashk condemned Trump's recent words about buying and owning Gaza:

'Gaza is not a property that can be sold or bought. It is an inseparable part of our occupied Palestinian land. Palestinians will resist plans for displacement.'
