At Davos, Trump Warns World War III Could Follow His Electoral Defeat.
Donald Trump's Address at the World Economic Forum
According to TSN.ua: Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos on January 21, former U.S. President Donald Trump claimed that a Third World War could become likely if he is not elected. He stated that the situation between Russia and Ukraine could deteriorate if negotiations fail. Trump emphasized his belief that his absence from the White House would pose a risk to global stability. His remarks come as he is the presumptive Republican nominee for the 2024 presidential election.
“We won’t have a Third World War. I think if I’m not elected, the war between Russia and Ukraine could escalate into a Third World War,” Trump said.
This statement underscores his conviction that his political presence is uniquely capable of influencing the international situation.
Negotiations Between Ukraine and Russia
Furthermore, Trump announced his intention to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy later that same day. He expressed his view that Ukraine and Russia have reached a stage where they could potentially strike a deal. “I believe they are at the point where they can come together and make a deal,” he noted. Trump added that if the parties cannot find a compromise, it would be “foolish,” stressing the necessity of dialogue for a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
Thus, during his Davos appearance, Trump focused on the importance of his political role in the context of international relations, as well as the need for constructive negotiations between Kyiv and Moscow to prevent further escalation.
Trump's forum speech indicates his desire to assert his role in international politics, particularly regarding the Ukrainian-Russian conflict. His comments on the potential for a Third World War in the event of his electoral loss also reflect anxieties about global security and stability, which he suggests could be threatened. The U.S. role in facilitating a peaceful resolution to the Ukraine-Russia war and supporting dialogue between the parties remains a critical international issue.
