Trump's Remarks at the G7 Summit in Évian-les-Bains

According to Novyny.live: At the G7 summit held in Évian-les-Bains, U.S. President Donald Trump declared that Washington will not prioritize the war in Ukraine. Instead, he stated that American efforts are currently directed toward Tehran. Trump also criticized the financial and defense strategies of his predecessors, claiming that former President Obama provided Ukraine with $350 billion in weaponry.

Diplomatic Talks and Negotiations

A scheduled meeting between Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is set to take place on June 16. As part of the preparations, Trump held a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin on June 14, lasting approximately 55 minutes. Emphasizing the need to address the Middle East, Trump stated:

“We will look at the situation. Right now, our focus is on Iran.”

The summit also addressed defense aid to Ukraine. Trump commented that the U.S. is 'selling them weapons' and 'not even giving it away for free.' These remarks underscore his stance on reassessing military assistance approaches. Additionally, a visit to Moscow by U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff and advisor Jared Kushner is planned, signaling continued diplomatic engagement in the region.

Trump aims to first resolve the situation in the Middle East, with a spotlight on Iran, while the Ukraine issue takes a secondary role in his foreign policy. This marks a significant shift in U.S. priorities, potentially impacting Ukraine's security and forcing its leadership to explore new strategies with other allies. Furthermore, the talks with Putin and the American envoys' trip to Moscow could reshape regional dynamics and conflict resolution approaches in Ukraine.
