Trump lifts restrictions on Ukraine's missile strikes on Russia: what does it mean.
Removing restrictions on missile use
According to inkorr.com: The Biden administration has decided to lift restrictions on Ukraine's use of long-range missiles to attack Russian targets. This will allow Kyiv to strengthen its strikes against targets in Russia, as noted by The Wall Street Journal.
After the arrival of Biden's new team, the Pentagon established a procedure for approving Ukrainian attacks using Western missiles, which involved providing American intelligence on targets. The final decision on the use of Western weapons against Russia depended on the U.S. Secretary of Defense.
- Earlier, Ukraine was unable to use these missiles.
- The decision to lift restrictions was made ahead of the meeting between Biden and Zelensky in the White House.
The first strike carried out by Ukraine was recorded using a British missile against a factory in Bryansk, where explosives and rocket fuel were produced. Storm Shadow missiles can hit targets at a distance of over 290 kilometers.
The lifting of restrictions on the use of long-range missiles by the Biden administration opens new opportunities for the military strategy of the Ukrainian army and increases tension in relations between Ukraine and Russia. This decision also indicates the strengthening of positions of the U.S. and Ukraine in confrontation with Russia.
