Trump on Peace Plan for Ukraine: A Few Unresolved Points Remain.
According to ТСН: U.S. President Donald Trump stated that there are "a few unresolved points" remaining in the negotiations regarding the peace process between Ukraine and Russia.
Trump emphasized that the possibility of territorial concessions from Kyiv is justified due to the aggression of Russian troops and the need to preserve the lives of Ukrainians.
“Look at how everything is going: if you look, everything is moving in one direction,”
he said, commenting on the situation at the front line.
The U.S. President also noted that certain territories could come under Russian occupation in the coming months.
“So do you want to fight and lose another 50-60 thousand people? Or do you want to do something now?”
Trump clarified that the process of agreeing on a peace deal is complicated, but the parties are beginning to realize that a compromise could be beneficial.
He pointed out that the initial version of the peace plan had 28 points, but the document has now been reduced to 22, most of which have already been agreed upon.
Discussions on Territories
He also reported that discussions regarding the territories and the line of demarcation are ongoing:
“They are talking about trying to... clear the border. You know, you do not draw a border through a house. You cannot draw a border in the middle of a highway. So they are trying to figure something out. This is a complicated process and not a quick one,”
Trump noted.
When asked about security guarantees for Ukraine, he emphasized that European countries must play a leading role in this matter.
Trump also clarified that European partners will be "significantly involved" in the process, as they "really want this to end."
It was previously reported that U.S. President Donald Trump's special envoy, Steve Witkoff, had a brief phone conversation with Yuri Ushakov, the chief advisor to Russian President Putin on foreign policy. He advised how Moscow should propose a plan for Ukraine to Trump.
We also reported earlier that U.S. President Donald Trump expressed optimism about the prospects of reaching an agreement concerning the war in Ukraine.
The interaction between the U.S. and European countries regarding peace in Ukraine is becoming increasingly important. Trump emphasizes that compromise is necessary to preserve human lives, but at the same time notes that this is a complicated process that requires a cautious approach. Further steps from both sides remain key to the development of the peace process.
